How to make a GIF from a still image

A photo-to-GIF animation does not always need complex image generation. Small camera movements can make a poster, product photo or illustration more engaging. This tool animates the source image while preserving its original appearance.

  1. Choose a picture. Select a JPG, PNG or WebP image under 8 MB. Large source images are scaled down to a compact, shareable output.
  2. Select a motion preset. Float moves the image horizontally, pulse gently zooms in and out, and pan produces a small vertical movement.
  3. Render the GIF. The editor draws 16 frames in your browser and exports a looping animated image that you can preview.
  4. Download and share. Save the resulting GIF locally. For websites that prioritize load speed, consider converting the finished animation to an optimized modern format.

When should you use image-to-GIF animation?

Try light motion for illustrations, product previews, event graphics, digital cards and profile images. A small zoom feels more natural on a landscape photo, while a horizontal sway can be effective for a centered character or sticker. Avoid excessive movements on text-heavy screenshots because they can make the text hard to read.

Difference from AI image-to-GIF: This maker moves the existing pixels with camera-style effects; it does not invent movements of people, faces or objects. AI-based subject animation is a future feature. If you already have an animated GIF and only need to edit it, visit the GIF Resizer or GIF Compressor.

Image to GIF FAQ

Does this tool use AI to animate my image?

No. It applies simple predefined camera-style movements. AI image animation is not yet available on this website.

Is my image private?

Yes. The file is decoded and rendered in your browser; it is not uploaded to AI GIF Studio.

What image formats are supported?

JPG, PNG and WebP inputs up to 8 MB. The finished download is an animated GIF.

Why is my GIF cropped?

The source image is fitted to a 480×320 frame with an overscan margin so it can pan or zoom without empty edges. For complete-image framing, prepare your source at a similar aspect ratio.
